Walking into La Petite Maison is like walking into a little slice of France and this festive iteration of La Vie en Rosé brunch has brought this from the sublime to the insanely good!

The theme this festive is Wonkaland, a fusion between Willy Wonka and Alice in Wonderland, it's a symphony of pink and purple and it only adds to the deliciousness.

Start your brunch to the sounds of the singer/saxophone duo performing a range of tunes, with everything from Christmas carols to contemporary classics. In between, the DJ spins great tunes, guaranteed to keep the toes tapping and the vibes high all afternoon.

Start with a drink: the menu for both soft and house packages both include excellent options for mocktails and cocktails, possibly the best list in Abu Dhabi. We absolutely love the sgroppino where a mix of St Germain and prosecco is topped with a delicious sorbet for maximum taste and effect and the Aperol based Riviera Tropicana. Don't go past the limonade noire for the funkiest mocktail ever, and if you like a less sweet experience, the virgin watermelon gazpacho has an incredible depth of flavour - it might not be your thing, but we give respect for the mixologist who put this together. Also on the menu, and possibly to be reserved for the end of the meal, is the cafe crema, a frozen mocha with a lotus biscuit topper, for a glorious sweet drink.

The starter course saw great dish after great dish arriving at the table. The escargots are by far the best in Abu Dhabi, done in garlic butter with a touch of parmesan and almond - divine mopped up with the house made crusty bread.

We loved the ceviche with delicate curls of truffle on the top, the absolutely beautiful sweetcorn salad, the tempura broccoli and the delicious tartines. The mushroom one with burrata was so well made, while the croque madame on brioche was an absolute swoon - what a gorgeously upscale version of the traditional snack food this is!

Choose a main each: we were tempted by everything but in the end, settled on the succulent beef tournedos with a Bordelaise sauce, and the absolutely superb sea bream with a brown butter sauce - what a dish! The rigatoni was also a great choice and we would line up for the prawn and caviar risotto - rich, decadent and sublime to eat.

La Petite Maison never lets dessert lovers down. The madeleines were absolutely incredible, the soft genoise sponge, delicately flavoured, crispy on the outside and soft and spongy inside. Dip these in the light, fresh whipped cream provided and your day will be made.

Equally as exciting is the pain perdu. This bouji French toast has the best caramelisation on the outside of a brioche that's been soaked overnight, resulting in the most texturally superb mouthful. It comes with a spiced ice-cream, the perfect foil for the sweetness of the pain, and the perfect way to really say 'festive'!

This is an undeniably exciting brunch, and may be my pick for the best brunch of its kind in Abu Dhabi at the moment. There really is very little to fault it: the beautifully appointed terrasse, the views, the live music, the interesting and decadent menu, excellent drinks ... these all serve to make a super offering. But what elevates La Vie en Rose brunch to the next level, is the honest, personable, genuine staff who will give great recommendations, are genuinely happy to have you share their restaurant and are out to make you feel at home.
