One of Abu Dhabi’s best casual restaurants, Diablito offers a gorgeous rooftop vibe with marina views (and an amazing view of the W Hotel in all its splendour!), fantastic tapas and paella, authentic Spanish sangria and drinks - there’s something to suit even the fussiest eater.

The tapas selection is huge, and we struggled to choose but we ended up taking the recommendations from the knowledgeable and super enthusiastic staff! We started with patatas bravas (AED70) - chunky potatoes in a spicy-but-not-too-spicy sauce, guacamole (AED75) - a massive bowl served with colourful chips and calamari (AED70) - with a perfectly crispy, light batter.

The potato based tortilla (Spanish omelette) (AED45) was another winner, and if you want a true taste of Spain, try the huevos rotos (AED80): truffle fries topped with beef chorizo and fried eggs, which disappeared in seconds - so good!

For paella lovers, there are five varieties to choose from, and portions are generous, feeding 2-3 people. We went with the staff favourite, a seafood paella (AED135) with prawns, squid, and cuttlefish. The prawns stole the show in this dish: the quality was amazing and the smokiness of the paella made it so moreish.

We couldn’t resist trying the Diablito pizza (AED 110), which justifies its price with its generous size and premium toppings. Loaded with tender, marinated beef strips, caramelised onions, and flavourful mushrooms, it was impressively large and so delicious that even the leftovers the next day had us raving.

We finished with the absolutely delicious chocolate coulant, creamy and dreamy and a great end to a really good, well-priced meal.

For drinks, the jug of mocktail sangria was refreshing, fruity, and not overly sweet while the frozen daiquiri and mojito mocktails were just as good. Cocktail enthusiasts are in for a treat too with an impressive selection of 18 options to choose from, starting at just AED50.

As an added bonus, there’s 20% off a la carte with BB+ and 50% off on Mondays

Diablito is great for a mid-week night out or a relaxed weekend afternoon soaking up the views and the vibes. There’s a DJ playing on weekend evenings and the terrace is dog-friendly, giving two more great reasons to try this great casual Spanish restaurant.
