Brunch at the Park is widely touted as people’s favourite Abu Dhabi brunch, but would it live up to this in the 2024-25 season?
… or would it be a case of ‘heavy is the head that wears the crown’?
We’re happy to tell you that this year, we think it's upped its own game - cue: happy dances from Abu Dhabi brunchers!
The range of food is broad, with a decent nod to both meat and seafood: the sushi table beckons with some very beautiful and tasty maki rolls, nigiri and sashimi. We love choosing our own ingredients and coming away with a superb ceviche, looking very cool in a half coconut shell. Fans of seafood will love the table with octopus, huge prawns, half lobsters and the fabulous oyster bar. And for a little more lobster, don’t miss the risotto!
The Japanese station hits so many high notes: the made-to-order bite-sized wagyu was a little slice of perfection, so tender and juicy, while the crispy tuna was texturally on-point and so delicious.
Head outside right for the desi station (with luscious pani puri and chaat made just for you) and a grill station. Choose your steak cut to grill to your preferred temperature, or get a tomahawk sliced for you to go alongside your foil-wrapped baked potato, corn and roasted veges. The roast lamb with pistachio crust is absolutely superb. And head outside under the trees for a seafood station - get your choice of fish or seafood grilled. There’s also a great Italian station with superb pizzas and your choice of pasta.
And how did the desserts stack up? It’s clear to see the influence of Chef Michele: his dessert station held so many very obviously cool sweets but also little things, designed to thrill the palate. The chocolate fountain, pink and splendid, had eyes boggling (but we were happy to see that it was up high enough to stop little fingers getting in the mix!) and there were numerous bowls of interesting desserts, including the viral chocolate bar in dessert form. Don’t miss the tiny eclairs, the tiny cheesecakes and the mango tart which was absolutely divine.
The cocktail selection was seriously impressive, with all the classics like espresso martinis, Aperol spritz and margaritas. The signature cocktails were a hit too - pretty to look at and strong enough to pack a punch. You’ve got 2 tasty mocktails to pick from, plus red and white wines and beers. If you’re feeling fancy, the champagne package with Perrier-Jouet is the way to go.
My advice on this brunch? Make it your mission to explore. Don’t like cheese? Still have a snag around the cheese room because tucked away in a corner are some delicious savoury tarts. Not a fan of dessert? Ask them to make you a signature gelato, with a flourish instead.
It’s still mostly inside - hats off to the hardy souls who braved the heat last weekend - but there was still a very nice feeling about it, helped along by the lovely singer who is just so sweet and so engaging, you can’t help but get involved.
If you’re looking for a brunch that punches above its weight, we think you might find that at Brunch at the Park.
