Express Lunch At The UAE's Only Brewery!

Express yourself in well under an hour at Craft by Side Hustle of a lunchtime. The October menu is a good one and has options both for people who want to gorge and those who 'just can't do lunch' because of heavy calorie fear. It's not a business lunch per se, but given that it gets people in and out so quickly and serves such high quality food, we're labelling it one of Abu Dhabi's best business lunches.

We started with spring rolls. I mean, I was dubious: would they be the standard little jobbies filled with mank veg? I should’ve known better: these house-made fried chicken rolls were long, crispy and delicious, especially dipped in the most understated crafty ranch dip.

The large mound that was the crispy fried softshell crab came with a good slaw and a decidedly spicy buffalo sauce, actually a meal in itself and very, very tasty. This felt like a fairly decadent lunch dish!

The Cajun corn chowder was an excellent rendition of the Louisiana staple. It was thick, stayed hot for ages and was great with the cheese and chili sticks dipped in. Next time, I’d consider going off-piste and ordering a soft pretzel to really get that soak-up going.

We ordered three mains for research purposes: the kingfish, a massive tri tip steak skewer and salmon burnt ends. All were good. The tri tip was served with creamed spinach and crispy potato skins, covering at least 3 major food groups! It was a lot of food and perfect for a lunch-is-dinner situation.

Caramelisation was brought to new heights on the salmon burnt ends. These mouthfuls came looking for all the world like a bento box with a couple of broccoli florets and white rice.

For anyone who fancies something lighter, the kingfish was extraordinarily good. It came on a fattouch with a generous dappling of corn tortilla and a fennel dressing. I'm not normally a fennel person, but this dressing enhanced the taste of the fish so spectacularly, it may have turned me!

I don’t need to outline it for you: this is one of the best value lunches in town. Go with your team, go with your other half or just go for a spot of solo dining … but do go - it’s a goodie.
