Brooklyn Chop House is the latest addition to the Abu Dhabi steakhouse scene, but you’ll find no one-trick pony here — its menu features a range of Asian dishes, a full range of different steaks that we think come in more affordably than many of its competitors, and seafood.
With a funky urban interior, an indoor-outdoor bar area, and a huge terrace, perfect for the cooler evenings, this is a venue that will keep the whole family happy, from the hard-to-please teen to the adults wanting quality cuts of meat and tons of really nice Asian food.
The Philly cheesesteak dumplings (AED55) catch our eye to start, and it's this kind of 2025 flavour combination that sets BCH slightly apart. The tender beef, melted cheese and caramelised onion combine perfectly in the crispy dumpling casing, good dipped in the sharp tamarind sauce. The short rib bao (AED60) are excellent and we think this might be our 'would-go-back-for' dish, with tender shredded beef in a hoisin glaze, wrapped in some of the fluffiest bao! Four large, pillowy buns lined up on the dish screams 'sharing platter' and we're here for it!
You're spoilt for choice with steak and there are a lot of good options on the menu, hailing from USA to Australia.
The Australian Wagyu tenderloin (grade 5+ for AED380 for 200g, or 6/7 for AED450 for 200g) comes buttery soft, perfectly pink and seasoned to perfection with a substantial char.
We’re all about the quintessential Chinese dish, Peking duck and couldn’t resist ordering a plate. The large slices of tender duck (AED390) come with rows of rock melon (an interesting and refreshing, if off-piste option!), scallions and cucumber. Roll them up with the pancakes - yes, there are plenty of these! - with some tangy plum sauce and you’re away. We recommend getting this as a platter to share, or if you love it enough, order it as a main without sharing a bite!
The kung pao chicken (AED100) would suit those who enjoy a bit of heat. The chunks of chicken are tender and soft, and the sauce, with a generous helping of roasted peanuts and dried chilis, is a perfect combination of sweet and spicy. Order some fluffy steamed rice to go with it and it's good for two people.
All the desserts are as pretty as a picture: the red velvet cake (AED50) is incredibly light, with a delicate vanilla cream. Not overly sweet, it would suit those who want a lighter end to a meal. Pistachio lovers will enjoy the cheesecake (AED60) which has a panna cotta-like texture and looks unassuming, until you dig in and find gooey chocolate inside! The double-height chocolate cake (AED55), layered with a rich chocolate ganache, will keep those chocolate lovers amongst you happy too!
There's a good choice of cocktails (AED65) and mocktails (AED45). We rate the refreshingly fruity watermelon-based Brooklyn Cooler and the House of Passion, a combination of passionfruit, honey, red peppercorns and a hint of star anise.
Brooklyn Chop House is a worthy new addition to the W Hotel and Yas Island food scene. We think it’s a good casual steakhouse in Abu Dhabi, great for mid-range Asianfood, a good place for teenagers to celebrate a birthday (the booth seating is in that wheelhouse!), for a casual group get-together or a mid-week or weekend steak that won’t break the bank.
