There’s nothing more deliciously chilled than Mare Mare on a good day. It’s all crisp blues and whites, and views over the Gulf make you feel like you’re smack in the middle of the Amalfi Coast. Brunchissimo sees you settling into your seat, with a drink and preparing for an afternoon of Italian food to come. It's easy to see why this is one of the best Sunday brunches in Abu Dhabi.

Start fresh: the beef carpaccio was seriously good, as well as an absolutely fresh and beautiful burrata with arugula and a panzanella salad. The salmon and avocado salad was the last word in lightness - just divine.

Hot starters came quickly and we particularly enjoyed tearing apart the the mushroomy arancini, purely for the cheese pull! The platter of crispy calamari is completely moreish - we left this on the table for the whole meat, and kept dipping back in. Don't miss the caponata, beautiful eggplant, spooned lavishly onto beautiful garlic bruschetta.

The pizza is deposited onto a stand, ready for us to dig in - we loved the half diavola, half margherita pizza and then we’re onto mains. Looking a little like calamari, hence the name, the calamarata pasta is enriched with a seafood bisque and is full of seafood - this is a fantastic dish, so do leave room for it!

It didn't stop there: plate after plate arrived. Seabass, crispy roasted chicken, a bowl with slow cooked short rib on a bed of polenta, potatoes and zucchini fritto misto. Portions weren't massive - just as well, by this time we were very full!

We finished in style with a good tiramisu, panna cotta, a chocolate torta, not too sweet and deliciously moreish, with a vanilla sauce to pour over and, not to be forgotten, the Sicilian favourite, some deliciously crispy cannoli.

There are 3 drinks packages available: the soft package, the house package that includes limoncello, aperol, lychee and campari spritzes, Italian, French and Chilean wine and spirits. Perrier-Jouet is included in the premium package.

Leaving the best to last, the singer/sax duo are absolutely excellent - they move around the room with grace, both fitting and creating the vibe. If a relaxed afternoon with good food, drinks and views is what you’d like, don’t go past Brunchissimo - the best Italian brunch in Abu Dhabi.
