The name Ritz-Carlton is synonymous with excellence - but does The Chef’s Brunch live up to these high expectations?

Chef’s Brunch at Giornotte is nothing short of a feast, featuring both incredibly good high end food but also approachable, great-for-plainer-palates food.

The number of choices at this brunch is staggering – trying it all would be impossible! We gave it our best shot, and there were several showstoppers ...

Seafood lovers will love the iced tuna ceviche and multiple platters of different varieties of smoked salmon. The caviar option was actually delicious, and served with pink butter, making it all the more delicious.

The torched foie gras topped with truffle shavings is heaven on a plate, and the quality of the meat second to none. Choose from a selection of cuts, including USDA ribeye, tenderloin, T-bone, lamb saddle, and chops, and have them cooked to order. Our lamb chops were expertly cooked and seasoned, showcasing the commitment to high-quality ingredients.

There are some really good fun options: the huge burger selection, the enormous amount of options for fish lovers, and the incredible range of little starter mouthfuls.  There were people queuing for the nachos and tacos - completely moreish and delicious - and a good Asian section with little duck pancakes and bao.

Desserts are varied with everything from a massive, cheesy kunafah to sweet passionfruit cakes, an incredible chocolate selection and a superb tiramisu pot.

The skill of the French patisserie chef shines through in his tarts and pastries and if you have room, the warm chocolate brownie had us swooning.

If you can’t squeeze any more sweets in, head to the cheese room which has by far the best selection of cheese at any brunch in Abu Dhabi.

The cocktails cover all the bases with the rum-based Drunk in Love, Pink Bird - a heady combination of gin, Aperol and prosecco with grapefruit and lemon, or Blue Ocean, made with whisky and blue curacao. If none of those tickle your fancy, there is a good wine and beer selection and Pommery Champagne on offer.

The best thing about this brunch, and what tipped the scale for us, was how happy the chef team was.  Every single chef and mixologist was smiley, obliging and clearly loving being there - it’s all very relaxed.

A saxophonist plays several sing-along classics alongside a DJ.

The recent introduction of the Forge restaurant as an alternative dining area will suit those seeking a quieter experience.

Those who enjoy a bit of the glory - make sure you dress to impress as there is a prize for the best dressed.
