A Perfect Afternoon Tea At The St. Regis Abu Dhabi

There’s something about afternoon tea that feels so indulgent - taking time out of hectic schedules to sit and savour delicate sandwiches and pastries, sip freshly brewed tea or coffee (or maybe even a glass of bubbles), and enjoying it in a setting like the Crystal Lounge at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi makes it even more of an occasion.

The experience begins with an introduction to the ritual of afternoon tea from the tea sommelier. Take the opportunity to sample the aroma of various teas, before choosing your custom blend. While the tea is brewing, a tower of delights lands on your table. 

Start with the delicate sandwiches, which include all the classics and some twists: creamy salmon terrine on charcoal bread topped with tart little berries, roast beef with gherkins, a pretty-as-a-picture egg mayo bun, coronation chicken, or cucumber with cream cheese on sundried tomato bread.

Once you have had your fill of savoury, it’s time to move on to the sweet treats - and they do not disappoint. The macaron exemplifies the skills of the patisserie chef, with that perfect crunch followed by a lightly chewy centre, and the lemon meringue tart looked too good to eat—almost! The rich, sticky toffee pudding felt extra indulgent, but we offset that with the sort-of-healthy fruit tartlet! 

Scones are notoriously hard to perfect, but the team at St Regis Abu Dhabi has well and truly succeeded. Served with generous pots of jam, homemade lemon curd, and clotted cream, the aroma of these delightful little puffs had the perfect amount of crust and were light and airy inside.

With its high ceilings, gorgeous chandeliers, and comfortable armchairs, the Crystal Lounge is the perfect spot to enjoy some delicious bites in a beautiful but relaxed setting.
