IFTAR IN ABU DHABI AT MAJESTIC MAJLIS BY THE SEA

It's no stretch to say that iftar at Majlis By The Sea is a sumptuous affair. Everything from the comfort and grandeur of the tent and the wonderful food, to the views from the terrace and the outstanding service make this an iftar to remember.

THE MAJLIS

The Majlis By The Sea is the last word in luxury: pristine white tables with chairs so comfortable you don't want to leave them, a long central buffet with salads and hot dishes, and an extensive dessert selection. The tent is lit by massive chandeliers, with an Arabic band playing background music, creating an almost ethereal ambiance.

THE TERRACE

The weather is perfect and sitting outside on the large terrace is an excellent option. With views over to the main building of Emirates Palace and out to sea, this is the perfect, most serene place to break your fast and enjoy a good shisha afterwards.

The edges of the terrace are lined with vibrant salads, an impressive bread display, Ramadan juices and most importantly, live stations from the one Michelin-starred outlets Talea by Antonio Guido and Hakkasan, as well as Martabaan by Hemant Oberoi and the excellent Lebanese House.

HIGHLIGHTS

Start at Hakkasan, and enjoy the most glorious duck salad with small pieces of duck confit amongst fresh microgreens, pomegranate and pine nuts as well as spicy prawns and a superb soft-shell crab dish, with melt-in-your-mouth pieces of crab with slivered almonds for a great crunch.

Guest chef, Chef Hirohisa Hayashi, has crafted the most beautiful sushi: the maki rolls are outstanding, telling stories with the presentation as well as the taste. We also love the tender, piquant beef tataki which is an iftar must-try.

Martabaan will not disappoint with a superb paneer option, a beautifully smooth makhani as well as a beautiful biryani with tender rice topped with excellent fried onions.

Fresh shawarma and a huge lamb ouzi can be found at Lebanese House: the lamb is expertly deposited onto your plate with a flavourful rice bursting with peas, broccoli, chickpeas and tomatoes. Watch in fascination as the chefs fashion bread on a stone then toss it into the oven, ready to be served warm to complement your meal.

DESSERTS

The dessert section is resplendent and dominated by spectacular towers of dates. Whether you're craving some great baklawa, cheese-filled kunafah, pastries with ashta cream or a soft serve, the dessert selection will not disappoint. Don't miss the beautiful lemon meringue tarts, the chocolate choux and try to save room for the self-serve iced coffee cream - this is a delicious way to end your meal.

The Majlis By The Sea is an iftar treat that should be experienced at least once this holy month. Service is outstanding, you're made to feel welcome and it really feels like you're on a culinary adventure - don't be disappointed if you can't try everything, that just means a second visit to one of the best iftar places in Abu Dhabi!
