WHITE BRUNCH: SUMMER EDITION

Every time we come to Saturday brunch at White, we're surprised by how much they manage to change it up and this time was no exception. Not only is every dish tasty and beautifully presented, it's clear that ingredients are high quality and the chef team has taken care to cater to every taste. Drinks are good, glasses are filled regularly and the vibe is relaxed. We're often asked which brunch is a good one to impress your guests - for us, White is it.

You're catered for as soon as you walk into the very chic, very light White. Check out the blue sea backdrop, grab a glass of bubbles from the Champagne wall, take a très-luxe, essentially Abu Dhabi pic, then head straight for your table.

But wait! If you’re a dessert lover, the chocolate table may draw you in before heading to your table! This amazing spectacle of chocolate, complete with branches, shelves and sculptures is both amazing and dangerous! Take a chocolate or a choux and sashay your way into brunch already happy - who said dessert couldn't come first!

If you're a seafood lover, you won't be disappointed. The freshly shucked oysters, octopus, prawns, lobster and even cockles on ice beckon. Everything is exceptionally fresh and the quality is clear. Enjoy the whole hammour in the Arabic food section, fragrant and well prepared or head outside for a chunky fresh fish skewer, grilled to order.

The sushi and sashimi selection is probably the best at a brunch in Abu Dhabi. We enjoyed the maki rolls where the freshness of the ingredients stood out. There are four different types of nigiri (don't miss the tuna!) and loads of sashimi options too. And there are glass pots with the most excellent ceviche - these are a don't miss!

Vegetarians are spoiled for choice. The beautifully displayed vegetable tower is a great start, while salads are carefully thought through to provide flavour combinations that are extremely high end.

What stands out were the excellent options that came with the roast meats. Leave the meat behind and head straight for the most luscious potatoes, fluffy on the inside and crispy outside, perfectly seasoned. Get a slice of eggplant, a corn cob, juicy cherry tomatoes or capsicum to go with them and you have an excellent meal.

But that's not all - vegetarian guests can enjoy the most glorious made-to-order pani puri and, from the Asian section, a wok fried noodles or laksa made with your choice of ingredients.

Meat eaters are also well catered for. Head to the slow cooked roast lamb or prime rib stations (with excellent gravy and potatoes to go with them!), get a slider grilled for you or pass by the Indian station for a gorgeous duck curry. We also love the sweet and sour chicken at the Asian station and the sweet, sticky chicken drumsticks which are absolutely delicious.

We started at the Cocktail of the Day station - make your own or get the very funky and obliging Prince to make them for you. The Saadiyat 27, with gorgeously plummy rum, apricot syrup and sprite was a favourite, though Aperol Spritz and gin & tonic is hard to go past - and of course the espresso martini to finish.

If cocktails aren't for you, choose from Heineken and Corona bottled beer, Italian prosecco, Chilean sauvignon blanc and cabernet and French rosé. Lyre's non-alcoholic options are great for people who want mocktails. These options change regularly so be sure to check with the food and beverage staff to see what's on the menu.

Desserts surpassed the usual impeccable White standards. The mango chocolate ‘mice’, the most divine apple mousse (pictured) and gorgeous little eclairs bursting with fresh creme patissier were excellent. The baby pavlovas were a triumph and the hot, saucy chocolate pudding was absolutely delicious.

The chocolate table holds an excellent chocolate log, choux buns looking like little fat chocolate snowmen, filled with a slightly bitter coffee cream and a divine chocolate cake.

We also loved the pastel de nata (Portugese tart) station: grab your nata and add creme Anglaise or chocolate sauce, or just have them au naturel! The gelato counter had a queue of people just fancying a cone or cup of ice-cream - with toppings of course! - to finish their meals.

There's entertainment aplenty! The musical duo had everyone humming along to favourites like Super Trouper with a bit of Natasha Bedingfield thrown in and towards the end of brunch, every table had a chance to spin the wheel. You could be lucky and win a meal voucher or a glass of Champagne or spin yourself on your way to 5 push ups!

For the children, a clown face painted every child a cute design, as well as providing balloon swords and animals!

White delivers it all: the ambiance is festive without being over the top, the selection is broad but without any sacrifice on taste and quality.

This is somewhere to bring your guests to give them the quintessential Abu Dhabi brunch experience but also the best place for groups or couples to come together and know that everyone will be entertained and well fed.
